Grain-Free Oatmeal with Stewed Berries (Paleo & Vegan)
This delicious grain-free oatmeal with stewed berries is naturally sweetened and packed with healthy fat, fiber, protein and antioxidants.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loveeeee a piping hot bowl of freshly cooked oatmeal. It makes me want to snuggle up on the couch and savor each and every bite. It’s especially yummy with stewed berries on top. As much I love my usual bowl of oatmeal, I decided to switch things up and make a grain-free/paleo version of oatmeal. Since it’s grain free this ‘oatmeal’ actually doesn’t include oats at all. It’s made with all clean, good-for-you ingredients (lots of healthy fats and fiber), but truly tastes like oatmeal. I’m not gluten or grain intolerant; this was simply just for a fun change.
The healthy ingredients that make up this grain-free ‘oatmeal’ are almond milk, almond flour, coconut flakes, flax, chia, hemp, vanilla extract and cinnamon. This recipe is naturally sweetened using 1/2 of a mashed banana – no sugar. Not only does the banana sweeten the ‘oatmeal’, it almost makes it taste like banana bread, plus it makes the ‘oatmeal’ thick and creamy. If the consistency of the ‘oatmeal’ comes out too thick for your liking, just add a bit more almond milk.
The stewed berries are so simple to make and are the most perfect topping for this grain-free ‘oatmeal’. All you have to do is heat some coconut oil and maple syrup over medium-low heat on a skillet, then add the mixed berries (buy organic whenever possible) and cook them, stirring occasionally until they’re perfectly soft and juicy.
In addition to the stewed berries I also added some mulberries, cacao nibs and bee pollen on top, but that’s totally optional. Almond butter or cashew butter would also be SO delicious drizzled over the stewed berries. Feel free to get creative and have fun with your toppings!

Hi! Can the almond flour be substituted with coconut flour?
Yes, definitely!
So excited to try this recipe! Eating oatmeal has gotten a little too repetitive, so I am going to try this alternative.
I’m so glad! Let me know how you like it! xo
